The (Out of the) Village Fete

28 August, after the Pride Parade

Our annual post-parade picnic is going to be bigger and better than ever, with free food, performers, live art, stalls, music, and kids' enterainment! Running at the UMIST students' union building (see below), just two minutes walk away from the villlage, we'll head down straight after the parade for a lovely free afternoon of fun for LGBTQ people—and bring your straight friends too!

We still need help on our organising teams, and we need performers and artists to get involved and help make the day even more spectacular. If you want to get involved, we have two organising meetings left—on the 16th and on the 23rd August, both at 6pm. For more information, please see our Pride 2010 events.

If you're on Facebook, please mark yourself as attending on our Facebook event and join our group so we can keep you up-to-date with our events afterward!

We've taken care to have both alcohol-free and alcohol-fuelled spaces, and the venue is wheelchair accessible. If you're planning to come and you have any accessibility requirements, then please send us an email (jennie.b.ohara@gmail.com) and we'll do our best to make our event accessible to you.

Directions

To find us from the village, head away from town along Sackville Street (the road Tribecca is on), until you get to the university campus on your left. Take a left and walk along until you see us! We're going to be putting directions all over the place on the day, but just in case you miss them, there's a map below as well.

About Us

Reclaim the Scene is collective of LGBTQ activists working to create a more accessible, friendly and welcoming space for LGBTQ people in Manchester. We want:

  • An accessible, friendly and welcoming 'scene'.
  • Pride to be free (are we too poor to be gay?)
  • LGBTQ rights to top the Pride and the scene's agenda
